Meet Julia
As a producer of Branded Music here at PlayNetwork, one has to be part disc jockey, account manager, researcher, brand specialist, technology troubleshooter, writer, interpreter, and psychologist. Music can be intangible, so understanding what music suits a brand and in-store environment not only takes research and a deep understanding of current music and trends, but a little telepathy and finesse. Music styles and moods can be subjective, so learning how to divine a client’s requests, as well as the needs of their customers, is an art.
My day-to-day life is more than just finding and listening to music. My day is fast-paced and filled with last-minute projects, requests, and emergencies—all of which require quick responses and sometimes complex troubleshooting. We’re always challenged with developing and designing new, cutting-edge media services such as podcasts, webcasts, and Web radio to name a few. And underlining it all is our unwavering commitment to providing outstanding customer service to all of our clients.
As with any job, it’s the people you work with who make up so much of the day-to-day. Fortunately for me, I happen to work with one of the coolest teams around. The Creative Services team is such a talented and hardworking group of individuals with skills garnered from all realms of the music industry—from radio to retail to event management. They are taste-makers, music geeks, and tech experts. Many of us even still moonlight as performers and promoters on the side. This inspiring group works to keep each other informed and involved in current music industry events and technological advances. Not to mention they happen to be a lot of fun!
I feel fortunate to work with such an innovative group and to have an interesting and challenging job in a company that values my creativity and passion for music, media, and the arts.
